MyRewards App New Homepage (2021 Revision)

Background

My Rewards launched by Cathay Financial Holdings, the most famous financial company in Taiwan, provides finance services for users including credit card point accumulation, redemption of preferential products, E-invoice, cash discount and more.

And, after so many features are launched, the original homepage is not good enough. It’s hard to find useful and relevant information. So we need to build a new homepage integrating the most needed information and services for users.

A Bit of Historical Context

Circa 2019

When I began working on the MR app in 2019, the MR homepage includes a lot of AD banners, which meant the user cannot find useful and relevant informations.

And some important features didn’t appear on a conspicuous place, and the UI was in need of a consistency.

Goal

  • Make the curated content engaging and relevant for users.

  • Present a modern visual with original Cathay brand.

  • Engage users to use ”Tree Point“ (1 TP point = 1 NT dollar).

Research

 

User Research & Competitor Analysis

I did some research about what kind of functions users like the most, and analyzed the competitors on the market.

 

What is important for Users?

In MR, users care about their points (TP points and credit points) they have, and are interested in what kind of preferential products can exchange.

And, users didn’t care about the AD banners since they think the banners are none of their business.

Most important of all, users want to earn points easily.

So…

Let’s brainstorm!

Each of the design team member made proposals. And we discussed with PM to make a final decision. It took many rounds.

I planned a new integrated information architecture for the MR homepage, including all kinds of points, preferential products, missions to earn points, and some other financial services. And the design was accepted, so I continued to finish the rest of design starting from wireframes, UI brainstorming, and animations.

 

And, here comes a really really complicated user flow.

Since there are a lot of sections here, the user flow grows up.

What’ s New?

A brand new integrative homepage improving user experience when using.

  • Fixed TP Point - shows the TP when scrolling.

  • Credit Card Points Area - users can quickly find the credit card points they have.

  • Mission List - allows users to know which mission has not been completed, and further the progress bar make it easier to read.

  • Preferential Products Exchange - shows the most popular products on the homepage to promote exchanging.

  • Collapsing Ads Banner - classifies the Ads banner, reducing the information anxiety.
